Dr. Reddy obtained his undergraduate degree from University of Rochester (New York) as a Bausch & Lomb Science Scholar. He completed a dual degree program, obtaining a B.S in Microbiology and a B.A. in Economics. While at the University of Rochester, he also began his research career in ophthalmology. By graduation, he had 6 published abstracts and 3 poster presentations at national meeting.

David F. Slagle, M.D. is an Ophthalmic surgeon certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He graduated from the University of New Orleans in 1974 and received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical School in 1978. He then served his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Jackson VA Hospital from 1978-1979, followed by his residency in Ophthalmology at Ochsner Foundation hospital and affiliated hospitals from 1979-1982.

Dr Slagle founded David F Slagle II MD, APMC dba The Medical and Surgical Eye Center in 1985. He retired January 31, 2022. Dr. Slagle has entrusted Dr. Satya Reddy to maintain and improve the continuing care of his patients.

Dr. Reddy has been practicing with The Medical And Surgical Eye Center for over 11 years. He purchased the practice January 1, 2021. Under Dr. Reddy’s leadership, our diagnostic equipment has been upgraded so that we may continue to provide leading edge eye care to Slidell, Covington, and the surrounding areas. Along with the most current technology, we are excited to now be able to locally offer new treatments, such as laser vision correction (LASIK/PRK), collagen cross-linking (keratoconus), and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. Please rest assured that when you come to visit us, you will continue to receive the personal touch from the many familiar faces that have treated you in the past.

Brandy Leger, O.D. graduated from University of Louisiana with her Bachelor of Science degree in 2005. She went on to complete and earn her Doctor of Optometry degree at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis in 2010. Dr. Leger has practiced for a private ophthalmology practice in St. Tammany and Tangipahoa Parishes for the last 9 years. Her experience is with Pediatric and Adult clinics caring for patients from the ages of 2 years old to 99 years old. She also fits all types of Contact Lenses. She joined our practice on October 1, 2019.

Dr. Syamala H.K. Reddy is a physician and board-certified ophthalmologist. He spent man years in full-time private practice in Hazard, Kentucky and as a professor of ophthalmology at the University of Kentucky. Dr Reddy recently moved to Slidell Louisiana to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He is excited to join his son, Dr. Satya Reddy, and the rest of the team here at Slidell Eye Specialists.
Dr. Reddy is also a pilot and a FAA designated Aviation Medical Examiner.
Reddy is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Surgeons, the Kentucky Eye Physicians, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Air Safety Foundation. He is the founding member and secretary of several non-profit organizations, including the Association of Asian Indians in Ophthalmology and the International Medical Society.

An Nguyen, MD is a Vietnamese-American Ophthalmologist born and raised in New Orleans. He is New Orleans through and through. After completing his undergraduate degree and earning a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Neuroscience at Tulane University, he went on to complete and earn his medical degree at Lousiana State University in New Orleans. Dr. Nguyen continued at LSU for his internship and then completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the Lousiana State University/ Ochsner Clinic Foundation program.
