Conditions We Treat
From common age-related changes to complex corneal disease, Louisiana Eye Specialists diagnoses and manages a full range of eye conditions. Below you’ll find details on the conditions we see most often, including several that led other patients to us for a second opinion after being told their case was too complex elsewhere.
Request an Appointment- Cataracts
- Glaucoma
- Keratoconus
- Diabetic Retinopathy
- Posterior Vitreous Detachment (PVD) & Floaters
- Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)
- Macular Degeneration
- Fuchs’ Endothelial Dystrophy
- Dry Eye Disease
- Astigmatism
- Presbyopia
Many of these conditions overlap — cataracts and glaucoma often appear together, dry eye affects candidacy for LASIK or PRK, and keratoconus and Fuchs’ dystrophy can both lead to needing a cornea transplant. Our fellowship-trained cornea specialist and ophthalmology team evaluate the full picture rather than treating conditions in isolation.
If you don’t see your condition listed, or you’re looking for information on a procedure like LASIK, PRK, or DSAEK instead, visit our Services page.

Request an AppointmentConditions Treated: FAQs
How do I know which condition is causing my vision changes?
A comprehensive eye exam is the best starting point. Many conditions share symptoms like blurry vision or light sensitivity, so proper testing is needed to pinpoint the cause.
Can I have more than one of these conditions at the same time?
Yes, it’s common — for example, cataracts and glaucoma frequently occur together, especially with age.
Do you treat conditions other practices consider too complex?
Yes. Complex corneal conditions and cases involving a failed prior treatment are an area of particular focus for our fellowship-trained cornea specialist.
Will treating my condition require surgery?
Not always. Many conditions are managed with monitoring, medication, or in-office procedures, with surgery reserved for more advanced cases.
Can children have any of these conditions?
Yes — amblyopia and certain forms of astigmatism are commonly diagnosed in childhood, which is why regular pediatric eye exams matter.
